Smart locks and property access control

Deluxe Holiday Homes fits a DET (formerly DTCM) and SIRA compliant smart lock on every managed unit, issues time-limited digital codes to guests and staff, and returns full access control to you when management ends.

Don’t

  • Do not attend the property yourself to resolve an overstay or an access dispute.
  • Do not issue codes or keys to third parties while the unit is under management — it breaks the access chain we are accountable for.

Every property we take under management is fitted with the DLX Smart Lock. This is not a convenience upgrade — keyless, trackable access is a regulatory condition of operating a holiday home in Dubai, and it is the mechanism by which we control who enters your asset and when.

Why the lock is mandatory

DET (formerly DTCM) requires all short-term rental properties to provide a secure keyless access system, protecting both landlord and guest. The DLX Smart Lock is fully compliant with the relevant regulations, including:

  • SIRA's "Security Requirements for Holiday Homes and Similar Facilities"
  • DET (formerly DTCM) smart check-in standards for vacation homes and corporate housing

To meet that mandate, the lock must deliver three things, and it does:

  • Remote code generation and deactivation
  • Secure, trackable access
  • Integration with our property management systems
A managed unit without a compliant keyless access system cannot be operated as a holiday home. Refusing installation puts the permit — and therefore your rental income — at risk.

What is installed

FeatureWhat it means for your unit
100% keyless accessGuests enter with a unique digital code, or through the app. No physical key circulates.
Remote access managementCodes are created and cancelled from mobile or desktop, without anyone travelling to the door.
Time-limited codesCodes expire automatically at the end of the booking.
Battery operatedLong-lasting performance with low-battery alerts, so the unit is serviced before a failure.
Stylish, modern finishDesigned to sit correctly on a high-end door without looking industrial.

How access codes are issued and revoked

  • Each guest receives a unique digital code tied to their booking.
  • The code is programmed to expire at the end of that booking — the code dies with the reservation, it does not need to be manually cancelled.
  • Code duration can be customised through the app where a stay requires it.
  • Staff and service access (housekeeping, maintenance, inspections) is issued the same way: individual, time-bound, and revocable from our side at any moment.

If a guest overstays

Access codes expire on the agreed check-out date. If a guest remains without a prior arrangement, Deluxe Holiday Homes handles the situation directly. You are not required to take any action, attend the property, or contact the guest. Once the matter is filed with the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), our Landlord Support team tells you in writing, keeps you informed at each later step, and tells you when it is closed.

Entry logs and your visibility

While the property is under our management, landlords do not have access to real-time entry and exit logs. Only Deluxe Holiday Homes can view this data. This protects the privacy of paying guests and keeps a single, defensible record of who entered the unit — which is what a regulator or an insurer will ask for if there is ever an incident.

Exception. Access to the logs is granted to you once the property is no longer under our management.

Remote management rights after handover

Landlord access to remote management is granted after property handover. Until handover is complete, code issuance sits entirely with our operations team.

Your original keys

We do not keep your original physical keys. Once the smart lock is fitted they are disposed of, unless you ask us beforehand to deliver them to you.

Connectivity

Wi-Fi is recommended so the lock syncs in real time with our systems. If connectivity drops temporarily, the lock continues to function over local Bluetooth, so a router fault never leaves a guest standing outside your door.
